Plants

While in quarantine, I started collecting plants as a hobby. Although I wasn’t able to keep them all alive, my love for plants grew. I am proud to say that I am a plant momma of over 25 plants.

When I am not in my lash room with clients or managing the spa, you can find me eating a corndog at Disney, walking down Main St with my husband skipping to the happy music.

Sundays

Although I was able to promote into management positions at work without a degree, I felt like I owed it to myself to finish my university education. So, at the age of 30, I completed my Bachelor degree in Organizational Leadership.

I could not have survived the stress and pressure of being an entrepreneur with out God and my church family. On Sundays, you can find me greeting and ushering.

It has not been an easy road. I want to be very open and vulnerable able my struggles. Although I am a strong and ambitious lady, I have had to learn how to live with a few challenges.

Anxiety: I have experienced anxiety since before I was in elementary school. I was officially diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder at the age of 19. I had debilitating panic and anxiety attacks on a daily basis for a few years. This was the main reason I knew I would have to be my own boss. I felt so guilty not being a reliable employee. As a business owner, I have the freedom to set my own schedule and take the time I need to take care of myself. I still experience anxiety but I am now able to maintain it.

Chronic Migraines: Another reason I knew I had to become my own boss was the frequency in which I was experiencing my migraine episodes. At one point, I was getting an episode a week!! And each time, the pain lasted 2-3 days. Fortunately, I am aware of my triggers now and have managed to bring down the frequency to about 1-2 episodes a month!

Fibromyalgia: Now this one is a real bummer. It wasn’t until 2021 that I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. In Fall of 2020 I got sick with covid pretty severely. Thank God that I was able to recover and am alive to tell the tale. However, the trauma of the virus in my body triggered Fibro and it has been a challenging road. I had to educate myself and learn what it even was!! I made lifestyle changes and have been able to manage the flareups for the most part.

I share my struggles in hopes that it could encourage someone. Having to struggle with these conditions was the main reason behind my decision of pursuing my entrepreneurial dream.
